Season Of Distraction Is Home Buyers Advantage

Where did everyone go? Well half the folks I know took a trip up to Tahoe for the 4th of July weekend. Many bay area residents in general are out on other vacations around the world as July is the height of the vacation season. For real estate, I call it the "season of distraction" and advise all buyers to keep a close eye on the market. During this time of year, many buyers who have been on the hunt for a home, take a break and take that long awaited vacation. Also, many Realtors who are usually scouting new properties for their clients also do the same. So with that you have buyers and Realtors not paying much attention to the market resulting in a great buying opportunity for home hunters sticking around the bay area over summer.

During summer many homes coming on the market will see a bit of a slow down in traffic. So instead of lining up with 4-5 other buyers, you could be the only buyer making an offer and getting a property at or perhaps just slightly above asking to secure the deal. So during the season of distraction (Summer), take advantage of the great opportunities coming to the market and make that purchase while your competition is sitting around a campfire roasting s'mores. By the way, no offense to those of you sitting around the campfire. I actually wish I were there too! I have a bag of marshmallows in my cupboard begging for a road trip to Tahoe.
As of today, there are over 1,000 active properties in the key East Bay cities which includes Contra Costa and Alameda, so take your pick and buy your dream home while no one is looking. Cheers and happy summer!
